theCommonist is an independent production company based in Malaysia and Thailand. We produce films and commercials, crafting innovative stories and timeless characters across all platforms and mediums. Founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2009, with the vision to unify the creative process, filming, and animation productions under one roof, fostering collaboration and addressing the industry’s fragmentation at the time. Our work includes the feature film Oasis of Now (Busan New Currents, Berlinale Forum) and a variety of commercial projects partnering with leading global brands.
